Christoph Waltz says he is NOT Playing Blofeld in SPECTRE

Wow, three Spectre stories in a row. What a Monday! One of the first pieces of great news coming from the production of Bond 24 was that the amazing Christoph Waltz was rumored to play the villain. As if our excitement could’t grow any higher, rumors swirled that he would be portraying Bond’s nemesis Ernst Stavro Blofeld. This seemed to be confirmed when Bond 24 was officially named Sprectre, as in the Special Executive for Counter-intelligence, Terrorism, Revenge and Extortion, the very organization Blofeld is head of, it seemed likely that Waltz really would wind up playing the evil genius hell-bent on world domination. Now though the official James Bond Twitter has decreed that Waltz’s character is Oberhauser. Which gives us two scenarios; Waltz is not the main baddie, or Oberhauser just be an alias for Blofeld.

While talking to Collider for his upcoming release Big Eyes, Waltz spoke briefly about it.

“No.  No.  It’s more interesting than that.”

Now actors have been known to stretch the truth to avoid spoiling things for fans, but Matt from Colider had an interesting conversation on the subject;

[Note from Matt: I was talking with Silas Lesnick from last week, and he had the interesting theory that Monica Bellucci is playing Blofeld.  Silas pointed out that the last name of Bellucci’s character, Sciarra, means “habitational name from Sciarra in Palermo province, Sicily, named with a word denoting a volcanic area.”  As Bond fans know, SPECTRE operated out of a volcano.

Could you imagine? Monica Bellucci is a beautiful and impactful actress who could have a lot of fun with the role.

Spectre will be released in the U.K. on October 23, 2015 and in the U.S. on November 6, 2015.  The film also stars Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, Lea Seydoux, Dave Bautista, Andrew Scott, Monica Bellucci and Jesper Christensen.
