Super Mario Maker Overview Video

Today Nintendo unleashed a Super Mario Maker overview video giving us a better idea of what to expect when the game launches exclusively for Wii U on September 11, 2015. Some of the big takeaways are adding custom sound effects, Amiibo support, and limited availability of course creation tools from the start. The game allows players to design and share levels using four different graphic styles including the original Super Mario Bros., Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, and New Super Mario Bros.

Sound effects have always been a staple in the Mario Bros. franchise and going forward you’ll be able to add to the collection of familiar sounds. The Super Mario Maker overview video shows how players can shake objects with the stylist to activate sounds and action sequences paving the way for over the top level design.

Super Mario Maker will support over 50 Amiibo adding even more variety to your gameplay experience. Simply tap an Amiibo to the GamePad and you can play as that character.

Of course with so many objects, characters, and effects at your disposal, the developers thought it best to limit players to the amount creation tools available from the start. So rather than feeling overwhelmed by the amount of options, features will remain locked until players have spent at least five minutes with the creation tools currently available. Doing so will unlock additional tools each day giving players full access after nine days.
