CARRIE remake – First trailer

Posted on October 15, 2012 at 9:13 pm by David "Snackbar" Edmundson

The Kimberly Peirce directed Carrie remake debuted it’s first trailer today.   Based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, the Sissy Spacek starring Carrie was a huge hit for director Brian De Palma in 1976.   Based on the trailer this iteration of the film looks to raise the stakes.  Although short, the trailer sets up the climax of the film perfectly.  Something very bad is about to happen.

Carrie stars Chloe Moretz, Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, Alex Russell, Portia Doubleday, Ansel Elgort, and Gabriella Wilde. Carrie opens on March 15th, 2013.

Official synopsis;

A reimagining of the classic horror tale about Carrie White (Chloë Grace Moretz), a shy girl outcast by her peers and sheltered by her deeply religious mother (Julianne Moore), who unleashes telekinetic terror on her small town after being pushed too far at her senior prom.

Based on the best-selling novel by Stephen King, Carrie is directed by Kimberly Peirce with a screenplay by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa.

What do you think? Are you over horror remakes?  Or do you think that they are improvements on the original?
