CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Casting African Extras for Upcoming Shoot

Posted on March 22, 2015 at 8:40 pm by David "Snackbar" Edmundson

Last week we learned that Captain America: Civil War would start filming in less than two weeks. That means the production is trying to get all of its extras squared away, and a recent casting call has gone out looking for specific types.

Most notable among the casting notice from Tammy Smith Casting [via CBM] is that the production is looking for African men and women. Specifically, they’re looking to cast ages 18 to 75 that have a “casual look or ETHNIC WARDROBE (is a plus, but not mandatory).” Actors cast for these roles will be filming in mid May.

It’s not a big surprise that the film is looking to cast African actors since Civil War will introduce Black avengers-age-of-ultron-poster-captain-america-412x600Panther (Chadwick Boseman), a.k.a. African prince T’Challa, who rules the advanced nation of Wakanda. Presumably, the African actors cast as extras will be Wakandan subjects, and Wakanda is specifically going to be in the film since the casting notice specified Africans rather than African-Americans.  That being said, we don’t know if Wakanda will feature in the past (perhaps T’Challa’s origin) or the present.

The casting notice is also looking for “Upscale Men and Women”, “Military Men”, “Southeast Asian Men and Women”, and “College Students”. These various extras will be need at various times from April through July. Click here to learn more.

Captain America: Civil War opens May 6, 2016, and also stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, Scarlet Johansson, and Jeremy Renner.

Here’s an early synopsis:

Following the events of Age of Ultron, the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies.
