According to Variety, Bruce Willis is set to make his Broadway debut in a stage rendition of Stephen King’s Misery. Warner Bros. Theater Ventures could have cast anyone in the role and I probably still would have been thrilled because King’s book and Rob Reiner’s movie are both amazing, but hearing that Willis will take the role of Paul Sheldon is certainly a major plus.

In case you haven’t read the book or seen the film, the story centers on Sheldon (played by James Caan in the film), a famous novelist whose car flies off the road in the middle of a blizzard. He’s rescued by a misery-kathy-bates-james-caan-600x338local nurse named Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates), but he soon comes to learn that she’s not much of a savior, but rather a crazy fan who totally loses it when she finds out that Sheldon killed off her favorite character at the end of his latest book.

William Goldman, the man behind the screenplay of the film, is set to pen the Broadway rendition with Will Frears directing. Elizabeth Marvel will join Willis as Annie Wilkes. Misery is expected to kick off a limited run in the fall of 2015, but we don’t have exact dates or a theater locked in just yet. Hopefully it opens up somewhere near me so I can check it out.
