Breaking Bad fans were primed and ready to watch the AMC series spin-off Better Call Saul this November, but the TV network has decided to push its premiere back to early 2015.  However, that’s where the bad news stops, since AMC also put in a 13-episode second-season order for the series, bringing the total to 23.  The first and second season of Better Call Saul will now team up with the network’s hit shows The Walking Dead and Talking Dead in early 2015 and 2016. The network even unveiled the show’s first official photo.

AMC announced today that Better Call Saul would premiere in early 2015 and that a second season had already been ordered.  To appease fans, the first image was also released.  It features title star Bob Odenkirk along with Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan and his co-showrunner Peter Gould; Gilligan will direct the series premiere.  Filming is currently underway in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  Here’s what AMC president Charlie Collier had to say:

“Production on Better Call Saul is underway and we could not be more proud of nor more excited about the work to date. We join the fans in eager anticipation for this series and today we happily confirm that our initial Saul order is for two seasons and a total of 23 episodes. When introducing any series, especially one with the DNA of Breaking Bad, there are countless factors to consider in making sure the show gets the launch it deserves. We have a strong history with Vince, Peter, Bob, the studio and so many involved with this production; we are enjoying the process on Saul and all share a focus on making it a true television event. No half measures.”

It sounds like AMC’s fall line-up is set, so we’ll just have to welcome the new series in the new year.  Take a look at the first image from Better Call Saul below:
