According to Deadline, Vince Gilligan (Breaking Bad) and David Shore (House) will be heading a new detective drama for CBS, which should premiere during the 2014-2015 season. Reports say that CBS has already ordered 13 episodes, so no doubt they’re banking on Gilligan and Shore’s track records to make this new show a hit.

This detective drama, titled Battle Creek, centers around the town of Battle Creek, Michigan where the police force struggles with their efforts at keeping the peace. Is an approach of cynicism and deception the best way to keep Battle Creek’s streets clean, or does the town need a dose of idealism and trust in order to turn things around? That seems to be the core theme at the center of the show as of now, but we’ll have to wait until next year to see how it ends up.

Apparently, Gilligan has been kicking around the script for Battle Creek for the past decade, and I presume it’s resurfacing now that Breaking Bad is ending and Gilligan is looking to devote himself to a new project. As it stands, Shore will serve as the showrunner with Gilligan directing, and both will also hold executive producer roles.

As a fan of both Breaking Bad and House, I’d definitely be interested in watching Battle Creek. I don’t know that I need another detective drama in my life, but with great casting, any show is watchable. What do you guys think?
