One of the games generating a lot of buzz at Blizzcon in Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. It’s a free-to-play digital collectible strategy card game. Not only is it Blizzard’s first free game, but it is also the first one designed with tablets in mind. Blizzard just announced today that they will be releasing it on both iOS and Android phones as well. There is currently a closed Beta, but it was also just announced at Blizzcon that an open Beta would begin in about a month. Unfortunately it may be a “Blizzard” month which is four human months.

We sat down with Hamilton Chu, Executive Producer of Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. We discussed;

  • How the game began
  • How it plays
  • The difference between this game and Blizzard’s larger titles
  • Getting back to the company’s root
  • Much, much more

How Blizzard describes Hearthstone;

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is a free-to-play digital collectible strategy card game that anyone can enjoy. Players choose one of nine epic Warcraft® heroes to play as, and then take turns playing cards from their customizable decks. Players are able to cast potent spells, use heroic weapons and abilities, or summon powerful characters to crush their opponent.
