Blackpowder Games Unveils Betrayer

Blackpowder Games, founded by ex-Monolith developers that worked on No One Lives Forever and the original F.E.A.R., has revealed their debut title, Betrayer, a first-person action adventure game. Betrayer takes place in 1604, where the player has arrived to the New World to meet up with an English colony in Virginia. Unfortunately, an evil force has taken up residence and “you find only ghosts and mysteries in a land drained of color and life.” Good luck with that…

The player will have muskets, crossbows, and even throwing axes to thwart the evil Conquistadors and creepy Shades roaming the wilderness. You’ll need constant vigilance as you search for survivors and hope to rid the land of evil. I should mention you’re not alone in your journey, as a strange lady in red seems to help you from afar.

Betrayer is a self-funded title and Blackpowder’s Creative Director Craig Hubbard said “We wanted to get back to crafting games more intuitively.”

The game will be available on Steam with early access on August 14, 2013.
