Bill Paxton Joins Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Bill PaxtonTV Guide reports Bill Paxton will join the cast of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for a multi-episode story arc beginning late February or March. Paxton will take on the role of Agent John Garrett, who was turned into a cyborg to save his life (Darth Vader style) in the comic universe.

Series executive producer, Jed Whedon, told TV Guide, “We wanted to bring in a rough-and-tumble former cohort of Agent Coulson [Clark Gregg] with a little bit of attitude and cigar-smoking swagger.”

Agent John Garrett will work alongside agents Ward (Brett Dalton) and May (Ming-Na Wen), and executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen explains he “comes into the fold in a very surprising way. He is the type who wants to stay out in the field no matter how high-level he gets.”

Jed Whedon went on to add “When Garrett got his promotion to Level 7, he refused to sit behind a desk and doesn’t like the formalities of S.H.I.E.L.D. He’s going to help Coulson solve some mysteries and is not afraid to rig an explosive or two.”

Bill Paxton is a fan favorite here at Geek Legacy and is a welcomed addition to this disappointing series. Some of our favorite roles he’s had over the years include Chet (Weird Science), Hudson (Aliens), and Simon (True Lies). What are some of your favorites? Let us know in the comments below!
