The crowd went wild in Hall H at SDCC today when Zac Snyder brought out Henry Cavill and Ben Affleck following the first sneak peek of footage from the upcoming Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Gal Godot also joined the Caped Crusader and Man of Steel on stage, and fans got their first look at the beginnings of the Justice League gathered together.

Before introducing his stars, Snyder talked to the crowd about filming for the new movie, teasing the audience with a brief clip show us our first look at Batman and Superman facing off. It begins with Batman pulling a black tarp off the Bat-Signal, turning it on to shine on a figure floating in the sky. Who is it? Why, Superman of course! His eyes start to glow red, then the camera cuts to Batman, whose eyes are glowing white. The two superheroes stare each other down for an intense moment, and the clip ends with the movie logo flashing on screen. Needless to say, everyone lost it.

Although Affleck, Cavill, and Godot didn’t stick around to talk much about their characters and the movie, their appearance was a pleasant surprise that people will no doubt be gushing over for the rest of the weekend. There’s no additional news on the movie, aside from Warner Bros officially releasing that image of Wonder Woman that Snyder tweeted yesterday.
