Before Watchmen Getting The Deluxe Edition Treatment

Posted on June 20, 2013 at 6:59 pm by Joe Blakeslee

When DC Comics announced in January 2012 that they would be doing a series of prequel comics to Alan Moore’s 1986 classic Watchmen, the reception was lukewarm at best. Many people, including Moore himself, considered the prequels to be nothing more then a shameless cash grab on the part of DC, and do nothing but ruin the reputation of the original graphic novel.

In the end they turned out to be… not that bad. Not as great as the original, but not the terrible train wreck that many predicted it would be. They were well received by critics and fans, and constantly placed high on the sales charts.

So with the success of the series DC has decided to collect the complete Before Watchmen run into four deluxe edition hardcovers that will be grouped the books by the authors who wrote them. All four will retail for $29.99 each.

Before Watchmen: Minutemen/Silk Specture will collect Before Watchmen: Minutemen 1-6  and Before Watchmen: Silk Specture 1-4  and will be released on June 26th.

Before Watchmen: Comedian/Rorschach will collect Before Watchmen: Comedian 1-6 and Before Watchmen: Rorschach 1-4 and will be released on July 10th.

Before Watchmen: Nite Owl/Dr. Manhattan will collect Before Watchmen: Nite Owl 1-4, Before Watchmen Dr. Manhattan 1-4, and Before Watchmen: Moloch 1-2 and will be released on July 10th.

Before Watchmen: Ozymandias/Crimson Corsair will collect Before Watchman: Ozymandias 1-6, “Curse of the Crimson Corsair,” and Before Watchmen: Dollar Bill one shot. It’ll be released on June 26th.
