The Ninjabot

After that intense (and intensely received) clip, Warner Bros. has unveiled the full new trailer for director Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film picks up after the events of Man of Steel, as Henry Cavill’s Superman finds himself dealing with the repercussions of his collateral damage-heavy fight with General Zod and a world on edge. Ben Affleck’s Batman, meanwhile, comes out of the shadows to defend his city against this alien presence.

This trailer strikes a bit of an odd tone as the Warner Bros. marketing team is seemingly trying to alleviate fears the film is deadly serious by showing off its lighter aspects, which are certainly welcome but give us a bit of whiplash after Monday’s ominous trailer teaser. Nevertheless, there’s a massive reveal here as we see the villain Doomsday for the first time, as well as a hero shot of Batman, Superman, and Gal Gadot‘s Wonder Woman all working together. Is it a case of giving away too much way before the film hits theaters, or is this simply the tip of the iceberg? Either way, the highlight of this trailer for me was the charged conversation between Clark and Bruce at the party, so I’m eager to see more of the character interactions in the full film.

Batman v Superman also stars Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Holly Hunter, Scoot McNairy, and Laurence Fishburne. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens in theaters on March 25, 2016.
