The Evil Within Audio and Visual Design

Adam Sessler interviews some of the folks behind-the-scenes of Shinji Mikami’s The Evil Within. This long awaited survival horror game will be available October 14 on the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC.

In the first video, Sessler chats with sound designers, Shuichi Kobori, and Ippei Shiraki about the game’s audio design, soundtrack, and use of sound to control a player’s emotions.

In the second video, Adam Sessler sits down with Art Director, Naoki Katakai, to discuss the game’s visual design. Not suprisingly, it turns out The Evil Within is a graphic gore-fest filled with elements from ’80s horror films.

Hype for The Evil Within continues to build with the release of new trailers and featurettes. Check out the “Every Last Bullet” trailer to get an idea of the importance of ammo conservation. A bullet to the head will usually put down a baddie for good, but in this game, you’ll want to burn those suckers to ensure they’ll never harm you again. Why waste bullets when there are plenty of other fun ways to thwart evil? Use your imagination, kid.
