Arnold Returns For The Legend of Conan

Posted on October 25, 2012 at 5:05 pm by Justin Cavender

Deadline reported earlier today that Arnold Schwarzenegger will be teaming up with Universal to make The Legend of Conan. Yes you read that correctly, Conan is back! The film will reboot the action franchise and pretend that both Conan The Destroyer (1984) and Conan The Barbarian (2011), starring Jason Mamoa never happened.

The Legend of Conan will be produced by Fredrik Malmberg and Chris Morgan. Mr. Morgan has some fun producing credits which include Wanted and the last four Fast and the Furious films. Universal is hoping to get the film in theaters by summer 2014.

The 1982 version of Conan the Barbarian is one of my favorite films. It’s not only super violent, it’s also quite depressing. I’m curious if the studio is going to stick with the R rating or go the PG-13 route. Personally, I think Conan needs to stick with the original formula and give us that sense of horror and brutality.

What do you guys think? Are you excited to see Arnold reprising the role that pretty much launched his career? Let us know in the comments below. In the meantime, be sure to check out the video below. It’s a favorite among us Geek Legacy goons. Conan the Musical!

Unless John Milius is involved, this won't stack up.
