Another day another JUSTICE LEAGUE rumor – New Batman to be revealed in JLA movie

A source has told Batman on Film that Justice League of America will be DC’s next film after Man of Steel, possibly opening Summer 2015.  They also report that they will reveal the rebooted Batman in that same film.  If all goes well then DC will launch a new Batman film series with the same Batman.  While Marvel set up the Avengers over several years through movies featuring the superheroes involved, DC seems to be thinking of doing the opposite.  Launching the ensamble film first might be a great way to introduce the heroes for their individual films.

The timing is right, Marvel laid the groundwork for a big superteam movie with The Avengers.  With DC’s Justice League roster in disarray, and their film history sketchy, here’s a breakdown of where we are;

  • Batman – Nolan’s Batman has just ended and shceduled to be rebooted.
  • Superman – Snyder has recently said his Superman has no place in JLA.
  • Green Lantern – Critically and financially panned, a JLA film could bring us a new Green Lantern.
  • Wonder Woman/Flash/Auquaman/Martian Manhunter – Films were never made or scrapped.

So the timing might just be right for the film.  They can re-cast the entire team, show them to the world, and then spin them off into their own franchises.  There’s been a lot of speculation lately on who will direct the film.  Joss Whedon really brought The Avengers together, and Warner Bros. needs to make sure they get the right person for the job.  So far the only thing that has been confirmed is that Will Beall (Gangster Squad) is writing the script.
