I think it’s safe to say that most of us are cautiously optimistic with what we’ve seen so far of Alien Isolation. Sega’s last attempt in revisiting the franchise turned out to be a real travesty with Aliens: Colonial Marines. I wouldn’t blame anyone if they wanted to wait on pre-ordering this beast and held out for reviews. That is both fair and arguably the smart thing to do. Can the folks over at Creative Assembly win us over? I’ll admit to being ridiculously excited for Alien: Isolation and I can’t wait to pee myself whilst running for dear life.
The game will feature a dynamic and reactive alien, which uses its senses to track your movement and hunt you down. Sounds scary, right? I quickly adopted the idea of survival horror in gaming, mostly because I love feeling scared. Honestly, taking on an alien Xenomorph sounds terrifying, and in the video you’re about to watch, the developers warn us we are going to die. Additionally, your next encounter with the alien will be totally different. That’s awesome!
We can’t defeat this monster–if we’re lucky we might escape and live to tell the tale. This new approach will be great for the franchise, and I hope it meets my expectations. It can’t be worse than Colonial Marines…
Alien: Isolation is due out later this year on PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, and PC.
