The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Amiibo

Yesterday during E3 2016 Nintendo mesmerized fans with a new trailer for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and introduced three amiibo to add to your collection. These new figures include Archer Link with a bow, Rider Link on horseback, and a creature known as a Guardian that actually has flexible parts.

The Treehouse staff also revealed how the Wolf Link amiibo from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD will connect to the game. When players tap a Wolf Link amiibo to the Wii U GamePad controller, Wolf Link will join Link to attack enemies on his own. He initially has three hearts, but players can raise his heart count by completing the Cave of Shadows and carrying over the save data from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD. Wolf Link can be summoned once a day, and disappears when his hearts run out. However, you can use Wolf Link again the next day.

Still no word on whether The Legend of Zelda amiibo from Super Smash Bros. will have any functionality for Breath of the Wild. Of course these amiibo include Link, Zelda, Ganondorf, Sheik, and Toon Link. With any luck by tapping these little guys to your Gamepad you’ll receive hearts, potions, bombs, or arrows.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is scheduled to launch simultaneously for both the Wii U console and Nintendo’s next system, code-named NX, in 2017.
