Sony Pictures has released a new trailer for Roland Emmerich’s action film, White House Down.  The story follows a rejected Secret Service applicant (Channing Tatum) who must save the President (Jamie Foxx) when a heavily-armed group takes over the White House.  With Olympus Has Fallen still in my mind I am having trouble seeing why we need this film, but this trailer has it’s moments.  Jamie Foxx seems out of his depth as the president, and resorts to be relying on lame or “black” jokes to make up for it.  Can you imagine Obama or any president kicking someone in the face and yelling, “Get your hands off my Jordans!”

The film also stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, James Woods, Richard Jenkins, Joey King, Jake Weber, Lance Reddick, and Jason Clarke.  White House Down opens June 28th.

Here’s the synopsis for White House Down:

Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (Jamie Foxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation’s government falling into chaos and time running out, it’s up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country.
