Spike TV Video Game Awards

Posted on November 19, 2012 at 12:26 pm by Stephen Janes

Every year, gamers are treated to their own version of the Academy Awards with the Spike TV Video Game Awards (or VGA’s). Now, I’m not preaching what they do, since every year I watch this award show it’s a failed attempt to appeal to gamers and their nature. I do, however, appreciate that something like this is televised and those who work hard to create our games are honored in front of an audience of their peers.

The official ballot for the 2012 Spike TV Awards show has been released and we finally get to see the list of nominees. The big decision comes down to Game of the Year, in which a game I spoke highly of made the list and one title completely surprised me. Again, I’m not here to preach or complain about Spike TV and how they present a show about video games in a terrible fashion, but the credit that these companies deserve will, as I said, finally be recognized and appreciated. The link will take you to the Spike TV website will all of the nominees, but I will highlight some of the major awards here. My hope is that, in a future article, I will talk about each category and really dish out who I think will win versus who deserves to win. For now, here are some of the major game nominees.

What do you Geeks think? Like the nominees for the major game platforms? Think somebody got snuffed? I’ll post a full write-up on the awards soon.

    • I absolutely LOVED Journey. Nothing bad to say about it. In fact, I wrote a review to that effect back when it came out.
