Mario Amiibo

Nintendo announced today the first wave of Amiibo figures will launch on November 21. A total of 12 figures will make the first wave including Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Link, Fox, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer, Villager, Pikachu, Kirby and Marth. Additionally, a second wave is scheduled to launch in December that includes Zelda, Diddy Kong, Luigi, Little Mac, Pit and Captain Falcon.

Amiibos were first announced over the summer at this year’s E3. The new interactive figures use NFC tech (near field communication) to work with video games. Simply place an Amiibo figure on your Wii U GamePad to activate them with supported games. Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is the first game to support Amiibos and will do so on its November 21 launch. Other games to offer Amiibo support include Mario Party 10, Yoshi’s Woolly World, and eventually Mario Kart 8. Expect more titles with Amiibo support sometime in 2015.
