Nintendo has announced their 3DS hardware sales have exceeded 11.5 million units in the US. Additionally, more than 16 million 3DS games (digital and packaged) were sold in 2013, a whopping 45% increase in software sales over 2012.

“Nintendo 3DS is a powerhouse with games and experiences that appeal to all kinds of players,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “We’re not slowing down in 2014. With more games featuring fan-favorite franchises on the way, the best days of Nintendo 3DS are still to come.”

Coming in hot this year is Yoshi’s New Island which launches March 14 in stores and in the Nintendo eShop. Players will control Yoshi as he guides Baby Mario to safety. Adorable to say the least.

Remember to check out the free demo of Square Enix’s RPG Bravely Default available now in the Nintendo eShop. Gain access to exclusive content not included in the main game and transfer some of the data to the full game when it’s released on February 7.
